3.5L spun mains- now engine rebuild
My 300probleM started to knock so I disassembled old engine from the barn just to find out that it had two spun main bearings so I throw the block. Few days later car knocked really bad with huge oil leaking from rear main crankshaft seal(I thought it's a rod knock until)so I pull the engine out and find out that 3(of 4) main bearings were spun, rods were good on both engines.
I was thinking to buy another used block but instead I got bore aligned this one, machine shop said it is repairable.
Cylinder walls were glazed but still no oil consumption or power loss. I will use the old piston rings after a fine hone.
Crankshaft came from machine shop, mains grounded to 0.75mm, rods 0.25mm clean as new.
And yes, I am an fool who bought crank bearings from ebay, that's the only place I could get oversized bearing, for some reason I got wrong set of mains so the assembly process will have to wait for a few weeks instead of tomorrow. If you know good place to buy some 0.75mm bearings let me know
