I'm wondering what is next to the brake booster on the firewall. I've taken pics. There's wires coming from the opening next to the brake booster, one connects to an ignition coil and the other is disconnected. I'm wondering what the other connects to and what it's for? Thank you

I agree with Terry. From the factory, there are only two things that penetrate the firewall to the right (as sitting in the car) of the booster: The shifter cable (mechanical) and the gas pedal cable (mechanical). If there are any wires coming thru those two grommets in the firewall, they were added.

You may want to download the 2004 FSM (factory service manual): https://www.dodgeintrepid.net/113-s...04-service-diagnostic-manuals-pdf-format.html

All wiring info. is in section 8W (of the service manual). To save you some time of familiarization:
• 8W-01 - 8W-65 are all the wiring diagrams (schematics) and the component index to this section
• 8W-70 is splice info.
• 8W-80 is connector pinouts
• 8W-91 is connector, ground, and splice locations (start at index at beginning of the section, sketches showing locations follow the index)
• 8W-97 is power distribution

I can't remember the name of the little tiny part but on my 300m, a 2001 with an unknown year engine, there are two wires on either side of the intake manifold in the same area as your picture. One on either side. One of them had a little electronic doohickey hooked up to it and I googled the part number. Its some sort of capacitor or something that is very minor and not necessary for everything to run right. I forget the name of it but someone here might know.
