Vents smell like ass!!

Has anyone else had this problem? I love my Vision but from the day I got it (used, about a year ago) everytime I turn on the AC or heat, defrost, etc., it smells like ass! Has someone or something died in my car before I owned it? Is this a common problem? Help!!!

Bacteria growing in the ductwork of your A/C. A somewhat common problem that gives A/C systems bad breath. There are ways to eliminate this such as spraying Lysol or misting Chlorene bleach thru the air system as it is running. Talk to an expert on how to cure this problem, unless you had a mouse or something crawl up the vent and die. The only cure for that is complete disassembly of the ductwork to and from the exchanger...

My dad has always turned off the A/C compressor the last couple minutes when he drives with the A/C on and turned the regular Fan on Full to blow out all the Excess moisture. He says that doing that prevents the Air from smelling like Cat Piss next time he uses it. Hes done that all his life on all his cars and it seems to work well. I guess from just blowing out all the excess moisture it keeps away the mold.

Have the same problem on my 2001 SE... I like the analogy... "Smells like ass", never thought of it as smelling quite like that before...

Anyway, if you do a search on this problem, others have recommended using Lysol, turning the heater fan on high and letting it suck it in as you spray. This seems to work for a short time, but doesn't really get rid of the smell. Other products and methods were mentioned as well. Some even said to check and make sure that the drain for the heater/a/c wasn't blocked.

I even had the problem while I had the car out in Arizona, doesn't get much drier that that, and it still stunk! Seems to go away after the air is used for a little while.
