"The Hemi comes with Dodge's multi-displacement system, which unobtrusively idles one side of the V8 when it's not needed, in order to reduce overall fuel consumption 10 percent to 20 percent, the engineers claim. "
How come no one mentions that the hemi takes mid-grade fuel.
The only intrepid engine to not take regular was the SXT with 250 hp. The 300M/LHS make [email protected] and 255 [email protected] when they came out (on mid-grade) LEV cut that down to 250 hp & 250 ft-lbs. The 300M special (never non LEV) make 255 hp (on premium, and the double rear resonator)
The RT made 242 hp in 2000, and the ECM didn't need adjusting to make LEV status (only official certication, and maybe more precious metal in the catalyst) so the same for 2001. In 2002 the new single board ECM, TCM added another sensor, and that allowed for 244 hp while still meeting LEV on regular.
