Test drove Magnum R/T

The other day I had my Intrepid R/T in for service. While I was waiting, I test drove the new Dodge Magnum R/T.

My first impression of the car in person was excitement. The magnum is awesome in black! The looks and styling are a high-tech retro fusion. The fit and finish were awesome and flawless.

Once inside, I loved the telescoping steering wheel. The seats, although encased in high grade leather, felt a bit "blocky," but the sales rep said that would soon change.

I started her up and listened to the V8 power through the duals. Not very loud, like on the commercials, but the promise of power there, nonetheless.

I put it in reverse to back off the grassy patch they'd had her displayed on, touched the gas slightly, and spun the tires. Whoa! I'm gonna have to watch that!

Off we go. Smoother ride than my Intrepid on the slow bumpies. Nice smooth powerful acceleration. There's that nice growl again from the Hemi. Right turn. Handles well in traffic. Good visibility in spite of low profile windows.

On to the freeway on-ramp. Time to check out the auto-stick. Hmmm, slightly different set-up. No autostcik notch. Just start shifting. Okay, got it. Whoa! Hit 90-95 by the end of the ramp! Sales guy is still smiling - that's a good sign!

I exit the freeway and get to a curvey stretch I know of. Not quite as stiff and tight through the corners as the 'Trep. I can REALLY tell I've been driving front wheel drive for awhile. That old feeling of powering through corners felt odd at first. Smile check on sales guy - uh oh, maybe we better head back.

One last speed run on the freeway and we're back at the dealership. Again, the acceleration is just awesome. Nothing I've seen has eroded my decision to buy one of these the first opportunity I have.

Sorry so long in responding...

Nope, she went straight and true. I didn't notice any during accel either.

EDIT - Oh, and those "blocky" seats? They're that space matress material and by the time we were done with the test drive the seat had conformed to my butt, including a little dip for my wallet! Very comfortable...

I've driven 2 Magnum R/T's now. The first one didn't pull to the right, but the one I drove today pulled quite a bit to the right while cruising as if the alignment was off. But when I got on the gas, it drove straight.

Test drove the R/T Magnum today. Sweet !!! It was loaded with the sunroof. That thing scoots. The sales manager let me take it out while I was getting an oil change. He said no salesman can go with you. That thing gets up to 100 pretty quick. It was Inferno Red with leather. I wish the exhaust were louder though. It was quieter than on the tv commercials. It's the only one they have in stock. Several customers were in the process of testing 300's. Quite busy today; more so than I'm used to seeing. They said it's been like that since the 300 and Magnum have hit the streets.

I hope it continues. Now if they'll only let me take out that SRT-10 or the Viper.....

I Drove a 300c as well, first experience with "HEMI POWER" incredible acceleration. love the bump shifting option! took it up to 75 real quick brakes seemed juust a little bit excessivly sensitive but i'm sure i could get used to that. the only other thing i didn't like was the visability out the back..other than that i liked it, very comfortable, could get used to driving one of those but a little more than i want to spend.

i wish my dealership wasnt that uptight...they say that if you arent ready to buy it that day, then you cant test drive it (Assholes)...this is after they tack on a $3995 "Limited Availability Mark-Up", taking a 35K loaded Magnum to 40K...they even put a $1000 LAMU on the 3.5L Magnums for the first 2 weeks they were out...what a crock of shit...the family car of Dodge is now going to be "limited availability?"

340Duster - that sucks !!!

My dealer lets me take out most of the stuff. No Vipers or SRT-10's of course but they're pretty good about test drives.

The R/T I drove didn't have any additional markup.

Find another dealer !!!

i just made a freind with Zack one of the saleman at my dealer, me and some of my car buddies go down there once or twice a week just to talk cars, new and old, i'm 18 and zack lets me drive knowing that we aren't going to buy anything, but then we've also taken him for drives during business hours in our muscle cars when we first got them, so it's kinda cool that the dealer doesn't really care!
we once went accross the street to the ford dealer to do a test and see how long it would be before they even asked if they could help us, waited like 15min then asked the desk to send us someone...the guy was really disrespectful to us just kept asking do you really need help with anything anyway just because we're young ... i'll never buy a ford, for that and other reasons.
