Rent a Magnum ????????

I rented a Chrysler 300 at Dollar rent a car last week in Vegas.
I always got an Intrepid but, as we all know DC doesn't make them anymore. I was talking to the Dollar guy about it and he told me that they were replacing the full size Intrepid with the Magnum. He said they would be coming in soon. I don't know if he was BS'ing me or not but I thought I'd pass it on.

I hope your right. I wouldn't mind taking the base model out for a spin for a few days.

I just saw a rentable one that stopped out on our farm two days ago. I was going to ask to look at it but I did not have time to. It looked very plain to me. I did notice the wheels had hubcaps.

I'm sorry... but anyone that buys a car just for the resale value is just foolish. When I am buying a car... I am buying something I like. Not something that when I am buying the car... all I am thinking about is what I am gonna get when I sell it.

If all you care about is resale... then you should just lease.

Of course it's not all I care about when buying a car... but it is a significant factor.

Not everyone wants to or ends up being able to keep a car through the life of the loan. In those situations, resale value is very important.

Lease? Yeah right. By default I (and many other people as well) put on more miles per year than most leases allow for... and with leases, you can kiss any sort of modifications goodbye.

If DC wants to sell more cars to more people, they're going to have to find ways of addressing the issues that people outside of their regular customer base have with "American" cars... one of which is resale value.

Resale value is applicable in more situations than just selling the vehicle. Say you get into an accident that was your fault and you didn't have gap insurance. After 2 years of ownership, what good does it do you for your insurance company to write you out a check for $15,000 when you still owe the bank $23,000?

Anyone that gets a car loan without gap insurance is a fool.

Just my two cents.
