Is The Magnum Rwd?

Just wondering, because I noticed that the RT has a 2.82 final drive, but the 2.7 liter versions have a 3.90. If they are interchangeable.... hehehe.

it is RWD, and if it's like the 300 (which it most likely is) the RT has a 5sp mercedes auto and the 2.7 has the rwd version of our tranny (forget the name/number thingy)

42LE

IF they are both RWD, and they use the same driveline after the tranny, the final drive gears may be interchangeable. That would make for an increadible increase in Rear wheel power and acceleration.

If I'm not mistaken...
42LE = FWD
42RE = RWD
2.7 final drive gears = 3.89 (At least on the LH diff's, I'm assuming it's the same though)

The transmissions are different, but I'm guessing the differentials would be built the same 'cept for the gearing. Going from 2.82 to 3.89 will definately drop the MPG rating, and probably break traction more too. I'd be kind of excited about that though. :p

But I could be wrong about all that.

That is what I do not know. The 42LE has a final drive of 3.89. Does the RWD version have the same final drive? The Advertised ratio for the new 2.7 magnum is 3.90, which is close enough to say it is the same.

In the FWD LH the final drive is the transfer gears in the transaxle, but I do not know what it is in the RWD version with the same tranny. Could be the tranfer gear still, or it may be out back in a differential. Depends on how they engineered it. If both drivelines use a differential, the gears should be interchangeable.

Anyway. This was just an idea I though someone may be interested in. I am still paying off student loans, so a Magnum is over my budget.
