Magnum vs. 2nd gen Intrepid

I've test driven the Magnum SXT. Nice car, I'd get one if I was ready for big car payments again. Happened to park next to one in the parking lot with my 2001 Intrepid. I noticed it didn't look that big after seeing it next to my Intrepid. Heard they were slightly smaller so I pulled up the specs on the net:

WHEELBASE: Magnum (120 in.) Intrepid (113 in.) LENGTH: Magnum (197.7 in.) Intrepid (203.3 in.) WIDTH: Magnum (74.1 in.) Intrepid (74.7 in.) HEIGHT: Magnum (58.4 in.) Intrepid (55.9 in.) WEIGHT: Magnum (3847lbs) Intrepid (3422 lbs)

So overall, the Intrepid is a little larger while the Magnum is a little heavier. Unfortunately, the only way to get better performance over the Intrepid is to get one of the Hemi engines. The V-6's are slower than thier Intrepid counterparts because of the extra weight and bad aerodynamics. I had a 2.7 Magnum try to keep up with my 2.7 Intrepid on the highway....I just walked away from him pretty good.

Yup, the V6 LX cars are slow!

I had a little fun with a Charger SXT in my 2002 ES, the ES won easily despite the fact that the Charger had a 3.5HO (250hp) and I only have a standard 3.5. (234hp)

The owner of the Charger was NOT happy that he lost the stop light grand prix to an Intrepid......

Oh well, 16 HP is not enough to offset almost 500 pounds of extra weight and bad aerodynamics.

Well it's a RWD so I would think so, easier on turns and no torque steering.

Well, most of the Magnums extra weight probably comes from the extra shet metal and glass in the rear area being a wagon and all. As far as more stable, depends on the weight distribution...

Having th engine in the front and being a station-wagon weight distribution shouldn't be as bad as our LH's .
