I think in 03-04 they started decontenting the SXT's. Stuff like no lights in ashtray or glovebox or door courtesy lights. No lighted visor mirrors.
I think 02 was supposed to be the best year for the R/T. Plus I think 03, 04 have a combined computer so no autostick(If you like that) without a miracle
(Indiana - you have convinced me to get the SXT letters from TFC. You and me need to get some tire shine )

If so you might be able to safely skip buying a service contract on the car. I don't think the 2002 came with that warranty and buying a service policy is expen$ive. I bought a 2003 SXT in June and unfortunately the engine turned out to have a mild rod knock, not a common problem in the 3.5 engine. Anyhow the dealer put a Mopar remanufactured engine into the car - a long block, heads and all - for $100 deductible under the warranty. The cost to have it done out of my own pocket would have been $6000 at the very least and possibly a bunch more. When I bought my car I passed on getting the service policy because I knew it had 7000 miles left on the factory warranty - so I saved a bunch of money and still was covered on the engine job. As a bonus, the Mopar - remanufactured engine came with a 3 yr / 36,000 mile parts and labor warranty of its own, so now instead of another 6000 or so miles of warranty on the engine I've got 3/36 on it.
Take your time, check out a number of cars, make sure to buy one that has everything on it you want rather than trying to futz with it later to add stuff to it. Go for an extensive test drive, listen to the engine at all speeds, drive on highway and in-town roads, have a sharp mechanic take a look/listen at the car, and run a Carfax report to make sure you don't buy something that's been through a flood or has been in a major accident.

Buying another Mopar
Well for those of you that didnt see my thread with my pics of the Eagle Vision and my dads trap beside it, my dads got totalled 3 days ago by a women running a red light.
So now we are looking at getting a 2nd gen trep. Looking at 2002-2004 SXT's. Just wondering if anyone has good/bad input on the car as both of us had 1st gens.
Also, what price is a good price say for a 2004 with about 65,000 Kilometres on it sorry not Miles lol. Or would an 02 RT be better for the same value and slightly higher miles?
Thanks for any input.
