I'm not sure if it's been mentioned. If you have the 3.3L it is an interference engine. The 3.5L is the non-Interference.

Timing belts will just break after a few years or alot of milage. Part of your 75K mileage maintenance. When the belt snaps, you lose ignition...and alls it will do is turn over and not start.

It's very possible the bolt holding the rocker arm on has loosened up some or wasn't tightened properly. If an old bolt was reused this will happen. I would have a different mechanic pull the valve...
