Upon just having the timing chain tensioner fixed, the car will not start with the cam position sensor connected.

It starts fine with the sensor disconnected. The sensor is a new one. It was running before the tensioner job.

Mechanic did not disconnect chain, so timing relationship is the same.

All connections checked so far, Diagnostics keeps showing bad cam sensor.
Tried the old one as well. It ran on the old one before the new one was replaced. Will not run on either sensor.

Anyone?

Bad 'new' sensor, or it was physically damaged or crudded up with the other work done.
Replace it...

OK....the low down.

They couldn;t get it to start on "any" cam sensor" ..so they tore it down again and when they checked carefully...it had jumped the chain resulting in the timing being too far out for the sensor to allow, but still starting with sensor disconnect.

Upon setting the timing relationship back to the marks, it now runs perfectly with the sensor. I was lucky it didn't go out far enough to bend anything.
