A few months ago I thought I'd try to embarass a silver Neon with my R/T... Big mistake !! Once I started to hear the aftermarket blow off valves going and I got close enough for a good look I could see it was a heavily modified SRT4 Neon. He pulled away from me like I was standing still and I was in top end of first working away at second with T/A off and autostick. That R/T is a stong car in 1st and 2nd gear powerband but I had no chance. I think I want one!!

Arn't all srt's 150+ mph cars?

Then a modded one....

If you had the mod money he put on the srt, and a turbo on the r/t i'd bet it would be different!
Up until the time when the stock tranny would let go lol. Well the SRT-4's come with a turbo from the factory, it could have been stock and it would have blown the R/T away.

A stock Neon SRT-4 will do 153 mph top speed. An Intrepid R/T would have no chance against a stock one, let alone a modified one. Not saying anything against the Intrepid R/T, just the way it is. Given the choice between the 2, I still think the Intrepid is a much nicer car. The Neon SRT-4's are fast, but in the end, still a Neon.

True... the Trep is a much nicer ride... Can still fit the family, groceries and golf clubs if I have to. Even at 300HP in the Trep it would be hard to match the power to weight of that SRT4 rocket. Agreed.. its still a Neon! It just doesn't carry the same "class". Would be a nice toy but not as practical. Nice Magnum BTW!! It was a toss up between a Magnum and the Pacifica I just bought. Wanted the Magnum cause it kicks #&$, but having 3 kids the Pacifica fit us all a bit better... Kinda still wish I would have gone for the Magnum in a way though.

I had a SRT-4 for 2-3 years. The SRT-4 stock would run 14's and with a good driver high 13's. The SRT-4 i had only had bolt on's: stage 2 injectors, MAP, TIP, no cat with 3" pipes to the rear, CAI, aftermarket BOV and stage 2 PCM, I was able to do 250+ WHP on a DYNO. I later added a stage 3 PCM and jumped me up to 290WHP. Add a 50 trim with supporting mods and your looking at 400-450WHP.

easiest car to modify and get a alot of HP out it. The intrepids just weight to much even with a turbo it won't make as fast as a SRT-4. I love the styling of the Intrepid and i wish they would move just as fast as a SRT-4.

Sounds like a mean ride..... I would love one! Just cant justify it having a big family. One Day! I later meet up with the guy in the SRT. Turns out he was a friend of a friend. He was telling me that there is not much out there that would take him. The way pulled on me... I belive it!

And overall they are very cheap to build. I have a total of 5k into my neon, and 2k of that is suspension. And she is dyno proven to 282whp and 304wtq on the stock turbo.....without the spray..... figuring in a 15% power loss for the drivetrain thats around 325 horse and 350 tq at the crank where most motors are rated from. And that is in a neon that the scales at Norwalk weigh at 2872lbs with driver and a full tank.
And it isn't too bad for road trips in my book, but has and never will be a daily driven car thats what the trep is for.

Thanks. Mine is an SXT with the 18" R/T wheels. WIsh I had the better suspension of the R/T, but the 3.5 still has plenty of kick. Nice to be able to put the back seats down and put stuff like my gun safe, 2 x4's etc. in there. I've gotten more compliments with this car than any I've owned. Just has that custom wagon look to it.

Yeah, the small fast cars such as the Subaru WRX, Neon SRT-4 & Mitsubishi Lancer have awesome performance, but really, in reality, they are souped up econoboxes. To me, it's imortant to have some power in a car for passing on the highway or going up some steep hills, but it's more than just power .... it's comfort and style too. There are so many young guys just slapping big wings, phony hood scoops and big wheels on thier car that to the average person (who doesn't know what a WRX or SRT-4) is, the WRX's SRT-4's and such look just like another one of them, even though they aren't. I drive my Magnum down the highway and I see heads turn sometimes. It's a unique looking wagon that stands out.

yup stock rated at 230hp 250tq, bought then taken to a dyno by proud new owners (stock) and made up to 240-250whp, so closer to 280-290 crank horsies! Yes neon neon neon, then say that evo's are lancers and sti's are imrezas,it's getting annoying, at least the SRT-4 has a different engine than the other two instead of a bigger turbo... only similar thing is the plastic interior, which in fact has differences, the headlights and windows, everything else had been changed, stock 13.8 1/4 with a good driver, i still miss my Bonnie though (97 3.5L trep) she was my baby and always will be, and a MUCH better ride than this track stiff suspension, but hey that's what the car is for...

From what I have seen they have developed closer to 225-230 stock, which is very respectable. It's alot like GTI's they tend to dyno 190-205 stock. I have ran a couple around here. Beat them both pretty handily. But really, dollar for dollar. The SRT4 is hard to beat for cheap speed.
