like the title says...

I'm a muscle car kind of guy that has a 1995 firebird formula , 1985 trans am and friends 1967 firebird sitting at the house :)

I don't know a thing about dodge cars other than my old spirit that I used to own a while back soo..

anything to look out for , check , good things about the car , bad things ? :)

thanks , I'll be hanging around here for a while I guess.

zrout, welcome to the site and enjoy. thinds to look out for would be, if its a 3.5L the timing belt/water pump.
flush the tranny and replace the filter for long life.
i am sure there are more, just not coming to mind now

Man, you are going to get a lot of conflicting answers on this question.

well ... The A/c isn't meant for these cars, Dodge was new with experimenting with electronic control in the transmission, I'd say an experiment gone bad, the water pump, timing belt, rotors (warp fairly quickly on 93-97 models), that's about all I can think of come to mind, you will hear more bad than good about this car, but that is with everything, overall, the time I had with her was excellent, a very strong car, and would probably recommend it to anybody

You might want to also keep an eye on your tie-rod ends, sway bar links, and rack-mount bushings. They're prone to degradation, especially if you like to push it like most of us here. :biggrin: Oh, and welcome to the site.

so I basically have to rebuild the whole damn thing to get it roadworthy ? :D

so far so good , I believe it's the 3.3L , doesn't have the electronically controled HVAC unit and only thing wrong with at the moment is a bad battery , hood release is busted and it could use an oil change.

oh and the A/C was making an godawful noise (I think it was just the belt) so I made the dealer cut the belt and it stopped :D lol , I'll put a new belt on there before summer hits NH (like august :/ ) and mess with it then.

you are going to want to get the A/C working asap. the longer you let it sit with the belt off, the more chances that the compressor will freeze up.

but..

I have never had a problem with rotors. The transmission will last as long as you want if you put a little maintence into it (change the filter every 20-30K miles, no need to do a FULL flush on that shcedule).

Water pump and timing belt.. that is somehting every car needs at around 100K. - whoops.. 3.3L you have a timing chain. that should be fine... change that like you would for any of your other V8's

the only really *weak* point on these cars is the steering... the bushings all SUCK. might want to look into that....

thanks for the tips , I'll get a new belt on there asap then

sadly enough I ripped AC out of all my cars :D lol , extra weight :D
