i have a 94 intrepid 3.3 and my friend has a 97 taurus 3.0 but we wnet off the line and he killed me 0-60 and after 60-90 he started to die off and after 90-up i killed him and just walked away from him so the 3.3 have more top end than the 97 ford taurus

Hmmmmm...must be the heavier weight of your Intrepid but I used to waste tauruses in my '92 chrysler New Yorker with a 3.3 V6. I used to chirp the tires off the line and I wasted many a so-called "sports car". Good kill anyways

Try picking on an SHO with your 3.3 :D

They'll smoke you 0-60 and they'll end up being a little dot down the road before you know it. My dad used to have an SHO and that was a WICKED Tarus. If I ever come across one for a decent price, its mine.

Good kill though with your 3.3 Fords do have a lot of torque in them, but their top ends suck.

Nice kill. The only race i lost to a SHO was a V-8 NOS moded one. 1 1/2 car lenghts to my 98 Neon R/T at 100mph and he had to use the NOS to win.

V8 SHO's are pretty much dogs anyway. The ones that are to be feared are the early manual transmission ones.

Those suckers are low-mid 14 second cars with a good driver. No current R/T anything would touch one in stock trip. (Well except the R/T 10 Viper, but that is a given.)

As for the engine...I have found brand new ones for $3,000-$5,000 which is right on par with a 1G 3.5L.

Of course with proper maintenance, wrecking the Yamaha 3.0L is next to impossible.

I had a friend with a SHO, had it in the garage for over 6 months, could never fixed or find the problem., when he found it and fixed it, car will be back to the shop for something else. That car was always breaking down. Sent it to the junk yard.
It was pretty fast, though...the little time he had it without fixing it :D

There IS car that Dodge made to compete with the SHO Taurus, it's the Spirit R/T. One of you guys have one. It had a 224 hp turbocharged 4cyl and was able to beat the SHO. :D

like LHSer said early 3.0L v6 (5 speed MTX) and 3.2L v6 (4 speed ATX) SHOs are the ones you should look out for. the newer v8 SHOs were only 15.6 or so cars; the only tranny they had was a crappy 4 speed auto slushbox. an R/T would probably give one a great run.

as for that motor stuff...i saw a website where a guy took a 93 or so taurus wagon that had a blown 3.8 v6 and a wrecked SHO. he pulled the 5 speed and the yamaha v6 out of the SHO and made a SHO wagon complete with SHO suspension, wheels, interior and pretty much everything else. if i remember correctly he was running super low 15s in that wagon, plus he was autocrossing it (and doing well). that just goes to SHO(w) you how dangerous they are. the SHO is a sedan that can teach a GTP a few lessons.

i have browsed the SHO boards a few times...it seems like those 10 year old SHOs are finally starting to have lots of problems staying reliable, especially the ones that are treated rough. many many small but serious problems with their motors. of course they build new parts every day so you'll still see the SHO on the road for plenty of time to come.

I heard that the last generation SHO's with the V8, besides being slower than the previous V6 model, had major engine trouble that would render the entire engine useless and need to be replaced.

Don't remember what it was but I think it was due to Yamaha and Ford not collaberating well on the design.

Somebody's faster! :D

i believe it has something to do with some sprockets in the valvetrain somewhere. last i heard there is still no solution to the problem, they're all bound to fail sooner or later (kind of like a 3.5L water pump).

Look at the post where some guys took a bone stock Neon with an automatic tranny and afro engineered a juice kit for it. It beat Mustang GT's.....just think what that Neon could do with a few bolt ons and a manual tranny.
