Powertrain
All 2nd gen Intrepids have aluminum motors with a 4 speed Automatic transaxle. Autostick was a standard item on 98-2001 ES models and all year RT and SXT models. Autostick is a driver-interactive transaxle shifter that lets you instantly switch from the convenience of an automatic to the performance of a manual transmission. This allows you to downshift before accelerating for greater passing power and engine braking control. It also allows you to upshift to 2nd or 3rd gear to maximize traction and fuel economy.
