I have been up and down this forum searching for an answer to clear the Check Engine light in my 1999 Canadian Chrysler Intrepid (yes Chrysler, no Dodge in Canada). It came on after slamming on my brakes, and has never shut off. The car runs fine. I have no fuses listed as PCM or ECM on the inside fuse box, or outside engine bay fuse box. I came across a post from a couple of years ago, with someone who had the same question, but was never given a definitive answer. It looks like the negative battery terminal bolt is rusted on, so I do not want to mess with taking it off and accidentally stripping it, unless that is the only solution. I want an easy way to reset the computer. Thanks!!!!
-Anyone know where I can get a manual for my Canadian import? Obviously the fuse boxes are different from the 2nd gens built in America. Will AutoZone be able to reset my import for me?

This will work for your Trep-there is no difference between the fuse boxes for the Dodge Intrepid or the Chrysler Intrepid(all Treps where made in Canada) except for the KM cluster and badging they are the same car. Under the hood you will find the fuse for the PCM pull and it will reset the PCM.

Nothing is labeled PCM on the fuse box cover, and there are no 10 amp fuses in the engine compartment. I will try taking a picture and posting it if I get a chance. Also, I pulled the DRL fuse recently, as the Canadian day running lights started to annoy me at night when parked, and running the air conditioning. They are always on!!!!!! Could this be causing the computer to error out? Thanks again.

Under the hood lift the PDC cover and flip it over-there is a relay/fuse diagram-that will show you what relay/fuse goes to what. In a rectangle near the l/f fender you will see a series of 20 amp fuses the third or fourth one is labeled TCM that might rest the PCM as well. If this does not work, just spray a penetrating oil like WD-40 or PB plaster on the Neg terminal nut and remove it to reset the PCM, the nut for my NEG terminal is crappy looky as well, but it should come off without a problem.

Yeah. I was going to try the penetrating oil, just wanted to do that as a last resort. I tried removing it without the oil, and the bolt was not moving. Thanks. Will try the TCM fuse.

Note: Pulling Fuse N resets the PCM for all years (as Ross mentioned). Pulling Fuse Q resets the TCM in pre-'02 cars. Pulling fuse Q does nothing in '02 and later cars because the TCM is inside the PCM and both are run off of Fuse N - even though Fuse Q is still labeled "TCM" in the later PDC's (they didn't change the tooling on the PDC labeling to reflect the absence of the TCM).

What is the code that you have? If you have an active code, it will return each time the codes are cleared until it is fixed.

Thanks Bill; for 2002+, the fuse is on the row nearest the fender and is a 10 amp, second one down,
Circuites in the power center changed between 01 and 02.

I think you're talking about Fuse W - which is in series with Fuse N. For '02 and up, pulling either Fuse W or Fuse N resets the PCM. Check page 8W-10-20 in the '02 FSM.

Thanks again. I did not see an N or 30 amp fuse. Maybe they are not stock fuses, as it looks like there has been some taping around the electrical wires, so there may have been a problem before. Disconnecting the jumper negative cable cleared the engine light. At the time I slammed on the brakes, and caused the engine light to come on, I think I had the fan in the car on low. I heard a pop or crack, and at the time I did not notice if the fan had turned off. Well yesterday it was hot, so I went to turn on the air conditioning. No fan at all. No high no low. This was before I disconnected the battery. I found the 30 amp fuse on the interior for the blower motor was shot, so I replaced that. Still no air flow. I followed the instructions here: http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/forums/t81779/ but I could not see a resistor. I did not spend a lot of time looking into it, as it was getting late. Is the resistor possibly hidden behind a plastic piece, or down under the carpet? I thought it would be easily noticeable, as looks colorful in the picture. Are there bolts or screws holding the resistor in place? It looks like the blower motor has bolts.

P.S. I can do brakes and oil changes, but I am not the most mechanically inclined person.

I suggest that you simply set the parking brake to turn off your DRL when you are parked and you don't want them on.

Stupid question I have a 2000 dodge intrepid 2.7 I'm trying to find the PCM fuse so I can pull it and reset the computer, does anyone know where the fuse is located

Fuse N tor PCM.
Fuse Q for TCM.
Or just disconnect top cable on neg. jump post to reset both.
