Looking to do a tune up on my 1999 Intrepid 2.7L motor. What parts do you need for a tune up. Also any ideas on what brand of parts does the Intrepid like the most. Ford likes ford parts but what about Dodge?

Depending on mileage at around 50,000 or 100,000 miles, spark plugs - Champion platinums (use some anti-seeze compound on the threads), air filter, oil change & oil filter, PCV valve and connecting hose - the hose is a dealer item, belts, transmission flush, cooling system flush - the trans uses specific Mopar fluid and for the coolant I recommend using Mopar antifreeze unless you can find the equivalent comercial brand.

yup, 'tune-up' is quite different these days than even 10 years ago. With fuel injection and electronic ignition, 'tune-ups' should be thought of as 'whole-car' preventative maintenance. Filters and fluids, drive belts, etc are now the tune-up items where it used to be plugs, wires, points, etc, etc, etc.

Tune-ups used to be mandatory for efficient running of the motor. With the new PM-centric maintenance schedules, tuns-ups are mandatory for the longevity of your whole car.
