OK OK so mother mopar never made an "official" Intrepid R/T from the 1st gens, anyone who browses through these forums would see that WE took over where mother mopar left off. Don't get me wrong, I have an incredible amount of respect for the real R/t's, heck I got my azz handed to me by one! But seriously, with all the thought, work, money, and god knows what else we 1st gen guys have done, I'd like to think that yeah, we've earned the R/T name for ours!
I admit, I REALLY dig the R/T badges on buschman's 95! Gonna call the dealer tomorrow! :D

It's funny when you mention that. the whole reason I bought the intrepid was cause of it's stunning lines and I had planned this from the start. But everytime I mod a car, particularly this one, my underlying thought is that this is the way dodge would have made it if there were so many pu$$ies in the front office that try to make EVERYONE happy while exciting NO ONE. I feel that this is the car the designers originally drew it up :) Now if I could just get my hands on that nascar engine!

But hey thanks Silver, I appreciated that post. If you do get the badges I will tell you that the neon grey is lighter and more "silvery" than the Intrepid's. You will have to get them painted or they won't look right. It was only like $40 bucks to paint them though.

Buschman

p.s. Long live the first gen R/T's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love your R/T. ****, If I had the money and an ES instead of my base model, I would do it in a heartbeat. Hmmmm.....divorce? Just kidding. I also agree with your front office theory, you got to remember, it's all about the $$$$. Especially Chrysler Corporation, if they didn't have the small financial base you might see a lot more out of that company like the 1st gen R/T.

Actually there was a first Gen R/T, only it was called the "SPORT". Had stiffer springs rollbars and a more limited option list and special rims.

The R/T logo was not being used much then, so it was the SPORT.

NEGATIVE. The Sport Intrepid never was, and isn't, considered to be an "R/T" or a predecessor to an "R/T" model. It was actually Dodge playing around with offering up the Intrepid with the Autostick tranny (which was also available in the ES model as an option that year, but came standard in the Sport).

That is why it still took two years for the R/T to appear on the 2nd gens.

wolf out.
