I was on the north shore of long island and behind me at a light was Landrover Discovery from the local dealer. When the light went green I chirped the tires and we were going uphill at that point. Suddenly I see him take the left lane and I can hear his engine revving to try and pass me. So naturally I gave me 'corde a nudge and I stayed a good half car length away for about 1/8th mile until the Discovery had to concede defeat and get behind me again. I never had to break 4000rpm; remember, you should only pull out just enough to win

i "raced" an explorer V8 once. he decided he should go in the far lane to try and take me off the line. i accelerated as normal, let him get about a 1/4 length on me and then i pushed down just enough to where the growl starts in 2nd (about 3000) and passed him up. i don't consider it a real kill because i didn't use more than half throttle.

The only SUV I would worry about racing are the 5.9 Limited Grand Cherokee's (from 96-98 I think) as well as the BMW X5 4.4i, and the AMG versions of MB's SUV.

I had a similar experience with a Ford f-150. Came up hard on my tail then changed lanes. I stomped it, hit passing gear, and left him behind. Remember to be courteous on the road, seize the moral high-ground. Until they screw with you, then mash 'em!

Actually I've been really easy on the racing. I've had lots of chances to humiliate people but I haven't risked it because I have slightly leaking thermostat gasket and my tranny needs a good fluid change with the new atf4 stuff. The previous owner didn't know **** about cars, but he kept it in pretty good condition. I'm just happy I got a great deal on it.

I keep challenging the wife to race me in her 5.0 explorer, I showed her that with the AWD all she has to do is hold down the brake with her right foot as hard as she can, give it throttle until it is just crawling forward, wait for the light, stomp your left foot as hard as you can and sidestep your right foot off the brake, I "demonstrated" and the truck shot off the line like a monster, of course all that extra curb weight catchs up real fast.....I think the Trep can take her by about 5-6 car lengths

my friend has a ML55 with the AMG conversion, that car is fast. It beat my new BMW 330 but it was the first day for me to drive a manual trans. so he really didnt beat me
