A bit on the 3.0

The 3.0 is used in the Sebring coupe and Stratus coupe. It is also used in the Mitsubishi Eclipse before the 2006 model year.

Older 12 valve versions were used in MANY mopars, the most famous use is in minivans. I had one in my old van, it was good for 150HP. It is also used in some forklifts!

Here's a rundown on the various 3.0s

12V SOHC, 140-160 HP: Old Caravans (2000 and earlier), Dynasty, Shadow ES (?), Mitsubishi 3000GT (base config), Stealth (base config)

24V SOHC, 200HP: Sebring Coupe, Stratus Coupe, Eclipse GT & GTS (205 hp for GTS)

24V DOHC, 224HP: 3000 GT, Stealth (common configs)

24V DOHC Twin Turbo, 300HP: 3000 GT VR4, Stealth R/T

This engine could be a nice 2.7 replacement IF it would fit the 42LE tranny. In the Stratus it is used with the 41TE, a different tranny. Very similar in operation, but VERY different in mounting. You would have a LOT of custom work on your hands with this motor.

It's easier to get a 3.5 HO and turbo it than it is to put in a 3.0 and turbo it.

:fun_83:

The 3.5L motor would be a better candidate for boost as well. The bearings are bigger and it's all in all a stouter motor than the 6G72 (SOHC or DOHC). Low boost + High compression = Torque. ;)

PS: My 3000GT base has the 222hp DOHC. All the power with none of the weight. :p
