Let's see-.3 liter=300 cc's--
how much horsepwer does the 3.5 have over the 3.2?
Of course, headers would help a WHOLE bunch!

what i mean is how much HP over the 3.2 is the 3.5, and if i put money into performance for the 3.2 will it be as good as a 3.5.... the bottom line is is it worth it for .3L?

3.2 is 226 HP, 3.5 is 252 HP-- for the time and cost, you would be much better off doing a couple things to your 3.2-- like cold air intake, nice exhaust system, 3.89 gears, etc.

and all the 3.2 mods would fit the 3.5?

Is your 3.2 in bad condition or something? I don't see why you would need to go through an entire swap just to gain 25 HP. This is a family sedan, and besides any performance mods you make will be negated by a not so racing friendly tranny (that is until our friends at the performance transaxle thread work something out. :D)

Oh believe me... we are searching for the cure for our transmission blues!

The funny thing is if he swapped in the 3.5, he'd probably only get around 240 or so HP..... the fuel curves won't be quite right, sure it will learn, but it might not be quite right.... The real goodies that got you 250HP are in the PCM, more aggressive fuel and ignition curves and such.

Going from 226 HP to 240 can be accomplished with a JoeKD intake and a good exhaust setup..... what the car may lack is the torque that you get in the 3.5.

As they say, there's no replacement for displacement.... unless there's boost!

So unless you want to add the complete electrical system from one of the 2002+ models, a 3.5 will only get you about 15-17HP..... pretty sorry for an engine swap, but the Honda guys do that kind of silliness all the time. :p

Yup, the engines are the same except for bore.

MSN Autos lists TWO 3.2L engines, one has the same stroke as the 3.5, the other has a longer stroke and smaller bore..... I want to say this is a misprint.... but here are the figures anyway:

The 3.2 I know:
HP: 222 @ 6400RPM
Torque: 222 ft-lbs @ 3950RPM
Displacement: 3231cc
Bore:3.62"
Stroke: 3.19"
CR: 9.5:1

Mystery 3.2:
HP: 225 @ 5600RPM
Torque: 217 ft-lbs @ 4700RPM
Displacement: 3210cc
Bore:3.50
Stroke: 3.39"
CR: 9.8:1

3.5HO, slightly detuned for regular gas
HP: 242 @ 6400RPM
Torque: 248 ft-lbs @ 3950RPM
Displacement: 3518cc
Bore: 3.78"
Stroke: 3.19"
CR: 9.9:1

that would be interesting for a misprint though since every single figure on it is slightly different.
