Ok I know this is a tired topic, but I need some details... I just got my cone filter in the mail, and now I want to put it in....
I want to replace the accordion looking flex tube with metal, mabey aluminum, mabey steel.
Now I remember people saying they used exaust tubing.

I want to know where to go to buy the tube/piping for this, what to look for, do i use insulation, or that heat resistant paint?

any and all help is appreciated, And I'm planning on taking some before and after pics [im gonna do the intake, exaust, new rims and tires, and a spoiler, and hopefully a chip]

thanx again- josh

i'm looking into titanium for the intake tube. the heat wouldn't make a damn bit of difference then. plus you can anodize it and it would look VERY cool. lightweight too.

if you can't go the titanium route (high cost and very hard to bend) i'd reccomend stainless steel and i wouldn't paint it. aluminum might be good too but you'd have to be careful with wall thicknesses because it doesn't dissipate heat as readily as other metals.

hope this helps.

ok... why not paint it?... I was looking at this stuff in an auto parts store that says it resists heat up to 1200 degrees... I would think that that would keep the heat out of the inside pretty good... plus its available in colors, so I could get red to match the cone filter :D

also, I dont have tools to bend pipe.
I do have pipe cutters, and I think I have a welder somewhere out in the garage...
so..... i was thinking that I have 2 options,
I can get 2 size pipes [one that fits inside the other] that already have a curve, or one thats straight, and one curved, and piece it toghther, or
2nd I can go to a muffler shop and have them bend me a pipe [$$$... shoudnt be too much]

anyway, anyone done this? If so, where did u go, and what did you get?

I'm getting my buddy at an exhaust shop to do it and being painted with 1200 degree paint since I'm not back home to use my 1500 degree paint that needs to be baked on where I can use my other buddy's oven. Hope to get it all done this weekend. Still have to get the aluminum sheet so I can close off part of the bottom and make the "inlet" for the wanna be "ram air" underneath. If you read my posts about "hoping to get some work done" you can read more.
