My 300probleM started to knock so I disassembled old engine from the barn just to find out that it had two spun main bearings so I throw the block. Few days later car knocked really bad with huge oil leaking from rear main crankshaft seal(I thought it's a rod knock until)so I pull the engine out and find out that 3(of 4) main bearings were spun, rods were good on both engines.
I was thinking to buy another used block but instead I got bore aligned this one, machine shop said it is repairable.
Cylinder walls were glazed but still no oil consumption or power loss. I will use the old piston rings after a fine hone.
Crankshaft came from machine shop, mains grounded to 0.75mm, rods 0.25mm clean as new.

And yes, I am an fool who bought crank bearings from ebay, that's the only place I could get oversized bearing, for some reason I got wrong set of mains so the assembly process will have to wait for a few weeks instead of tomorrow. If you know good place to buy some 0.75mm bearings let me know

Comments are wellcome, pics soon

One of my bigger concerns is to make sure the oil galley plugs in the block get removed and cleaned out thoroughly. Same goes for the crankshaft but you'll probably want to look at the parts manual to be sure that they are labeled and available. I saw your other post about the heads, guessing the cam bores were scored up from metal debris with the bearing failure.

Not sure where you're located or what your thoughts are as far as the oil pump but I will mention I have one that is new old stock, still in the box. Bought it on impulse a couple years back when I was pricing options for a rebuild and wound up swapping the whole engine.

Hmm, this is third engine I disassembled and every single one had bad scoring on all cam and crank bearings, and every one had bad cam lobes on right side head. I wonder what is wrong with these engines, bad bearing material from factory or low oil pressure, in my case no engines had sludge problems.
Machine shop will take care of oil passages so the engine will be clean inside, In my opinion first set of rod bearings had started to go bad and after replacing them as safety measure, there were still some metal shavings inside the engine, and from then on the mains and crank go bad

Straight outta machine shop with my neon 2.0, playing with some german cars on the way, I scratched the Jeep 4.2 cylinder head surface which was in the trunk when accelerating, kinda worth it..

Main clearance is 0.07mm, could be better but still in spec, I should use heavier weight oil than spec
I started assembling the engine yesterday, it should be completed today

Photobucket has become a shithole. Another member here mentioned a loophole to make it work though.

I havent been here for a while, engine was installed 3 weeks ago, had to go to Zagreb and had done 2400km in 10 days, now it's done 3000km and no problems since.
First two days lash adjusters were empty so it knocked like diesel, then I nailed it to redline and thing went quiet. I've been nailing it very since, no big loss of oil even with old rings.
Let's call this sucess. Greeting from Chrysler service in Split, Croatia :)

I thought that would make the engine tick not knock. I had so many spun bearings in my 300M's and even the new engine is knocking ...heck its knocking 2 weeks before my appointment to register the car lol
