Good morning to all.
I would like to install the folding mirrors from a 300M into my 03 Intrepid SE.
I know I don't have the wiring harness to be able to connect the mirrors connectors in my car. I tried a set of mirrors from a 02 Concord I found at a Pick and Pull. I even remove the entire door harness from the car and tried to connect that harness to my car. The harness on my intrepid will not connect to the harness from the Concord. So I returned the mirrors and wires back.

My question is? Is it possible to splice the cables from my door harness into the cables of the mirror? and is it possible to connect a direct electrical cable from the turning signal of the car into the cable of the mirror that powers the turning signal in the mirror?

If so does anybody knows what line power what on the mirror. I remember having like 9 or 11 cables on the mirrors I remove from the Concord. My car has only 2.

All I want is the ability to fold the mirrors, adjust the glass and have turning signals. No desire to have dimming or heat.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Leo

You should be able to directly wire to the turn signals. For schematics, for left side, see '02 FSM p. 8w-62-7 and 52-3 - S351. That should get you started on the turn signals.

Section 8W-62 is all about the power mirrors. That should answer the question about the rest of the wiring.

Here's the info you need:

For splicing 300m Special Mirror wiring to your existing door wiring:

Divers side
Driver Door wiring Pin 1 Yellow wire to Mirror wiring Pin 4 Yellow wire. (Driver Mirror Up Driver)
Driver Door wiring Pin 2 Yellow/Pink stripe wire to Mirror wiring Pin 2 Yellow/Pink Stripe wire. (Driver Mirror Common Driver)
Driver Door wiring Pin 3 Black/White Stripe wire to Mirror wiring Pin 5 Black/White Stripe Wire. (Driver Mirror Left Driver)

Passenger Side
Passenger Door Wiring Pin 1 White wire to Mirror wiring Pin 2 White wire. ( Passenger Mirror Right/Down)
Passenger Door wiring Pin 2 Yellow/Black Stripe wire to Mirror wiring Pin 4 Yellow/Black Stripe wire. (Passenger Mirror Up)
Passenger Door wiring Pin 3 Dark Blue wire to Mirror wiring Pin 5 Dark Blue wire. (Passenger Mirror Left)

See next two pictures below. This gives you the normal mirror glass position adjustment.

For the Turn Signals, you'll need to splice the groundwire from your Door Lock switch to the mirror and add one wire in each door for the Turn Signal control.

For the Grounds:
Driver Door wiring Door Lock Pin 3 Black Wire to Mirror wiring Pin 1 Black wire (Ground)
Passenger Door wiring Door Lock Pin 3 Black Wire to Mirror wiring Pin 1 Black wire. (Ground)

For the Turn Signals...you'll need to add a wire from inside the car out to the door on each side. I believe there's an empty cavity in the big white door frame connectors where you can add a suitable gauge wire. See the picture below. You'll need to get creative on finding these wires and splicing in to them.

Drivers side will be a Light Green wire.
Passenger side will be a Tan wire.

All LH Folding mirrors AREN'T Power folding! You fold them by pushing them manually with your hand towards or away from the door window.

After all the work I put into the above post, I'm assuming you intend to buy the mirrors i have for sale. Contact me in a PM about them and we'll go from there. Thanks.

Hello guys
Im about to start working on the side mirrors replacements with the 300M with turning signals from Ron for my car. I found this post from 2003. Using this I think I can tackle the job. Seems simple other than the removal of the doors and passing the electrical cables in the junction boxes.

http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/40-second-generation-faq/28164-how-install-300m-special-turn-signal-mirrors.html

What kind of electrical cables are the best to do the splicing?

What method of splicing is the best?

What kind of connectors should I use.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You're not changing door harnesses so taking the doors off isn't really necessary. Although it does make it easier to work with the accordion boots that cover the wiring.

You're going to be adding one wire per side to get the Turn Signal functionality.

The rest I've already outlined above.

It is so much easier to removed the doors. I did it when I tried to replace the wiring harnesses, but what about the splicing, connectors, what is the required wire for the turning signals,
What is a awg wire?

Thanks guys for the info. I did find the post on how to install. So I will use the 16 wire, I guess from any lowe or home depot. Now the issue is the connectors. I would like to use a system that is similar to a plug and play in case of future replacement.

Thanks

I would say use a spade connector, with a protective sheath over the connector. That or tape the connection as well, that way you know for sure it isn't going to pull itself apart at any time. Male to female, etc. Or you could could use a male/female "bullet" type connector. Same difference as the spade.

I think its called a bullet connector anyways. Either or, ultimately its up to you

Nope, not yet
as a matter of fact I put the car back together for the first time since october. All door seals, windshield wipers and covers, since I took them out for cleaning and painting, put the seats back together and installed them in the car. I was supposed to get a call from the shop to take the car today in for the new seats and the heating system. But they did not call. Tomorrow Im going to call them to see what happened. I decided to wait for the door removal to insert the wires for the turning signal after the seats are done. Bought all the materials needed for the job. Found the bullet connectors that KxWarrior told me at home depot and had to go to a car radio shop to get splicing connectors for the turning signals and 16 gauge wire with electrical tape.

On another note a big disappointment. I drove the car today to work since i was going to take it to the shop. Decided to drive it for a few miles since the car has been in the garage since last october to warm it up and have the tranny do some work. When I cranked there was a lot of thick heavy bluish smoke!!!!!!!. It was gone soon after that. I remember reading some of Pevas post regarding the PCV valve replace for that. Hope that is the problem. The power steering pump keeps making the loud noise, the fund is on the appropriate mark. Maybe I will try and replace the fluid and see if the noise goes away. FINALLY, I took it to the car wash!!!!!!!!, I was covered in pole and dust. AS SOON AS I GOT THE CAR WET, WATER STARTED COMING IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Put silicon on the door wire harness rubber, so there is no way water can enter there. It has to be the door seals like Terry said. Im freaking PIST!!!!!!!!! May have to replace them and they are freaking expensive!!!!!!!!!!. Glad the new rug was not in!!!!!!!

Before you buy new seals, maybe try this.

Put some silicone on the inside groove of the seal and maybe a thin bead on the metal lip (where the seal goes)...maybe just on the outside of the metal?

Let it cure and then run it through the car wash again....

Yeah - on the blue smoke at startup, likely PCV issue. Sorry, I don't remember what engine you have, but if 2.7, could be bad valve stem seals and/or PCV valve. Also, make sure engine is not way overfilled with oil. Just trying to cover all the bases.

Success

Got to install the driver side 300M :Rockin:
I was able to connect the cables to it and It works. Now Im going to splice the only light green cable from the wire bundle the floor of the driver side to the light green cable from the new mirror. I hope it is the correct one.
Rombo is this the black ground wire that you are referring to in the beginning of the post?

The grounds I was referring to are in the doors at the power door lock switches. Is that the wiring inside the door going to the door lock switch in your 3rd picture? If so that black wire will be the ground inside the door.
