Hey,

I am going to get a 1993 Dodge intrepid ES for 3800 bucks from an older man. It has 55k miles on it and its a 3.5L V6, 24v power everything. Anyways, I noticed that it had dual exhaust already, but I was wondering if there was some place where I could buy new mufflers and put one on each side instead of grouped together on the drivers side?

I am also interested in doing other performance mods, but would like to start out with the exhaust. Does anyone own a 93 ES with mods or anything or know where I could purchase performance upgrades for one?

Thanks,

Fred

Hey Starscream,

First off welcome to the board. As for your question. Unfortunately the Intrpeid does not have dual exhaust(unless that older gentleman had done some mod work to it, which I doubt). It mearly has dual outlets. Unfortunately there is no cheap way to route another pipe to the right side. It's not that it can't be done, but what you're talking about is a custom mod. A good deal of companies won't do it cause it's illegal to alter your exhaust system. However look hard enough and you can find places to do it. Talk to your local speed shop. However I doubt you will be able to do what you're asking for less than $500. But I'm planning on doing it myself, so I'll let you know what I come up with when I do it :)

Ok thanks. Why is it illegal to alter the exhaust? I don't think Florida has that strict of emissions laws as California does. Where did you get those nice looking rims? I have to get new tires on the thing, might as well go out and get new rims too. I don't know much about cars so pardon the stupid questions.

Yeah you're right Thrasher, I am a little north of Tampa. What shop did you happen to get that exhaust system from? Orlando is about a 1 hour drive from me, so I wouldn't mind heading over there to get a new exhaust system. I am also interested in getting a cold air intake, if they even make those for Inrepids. Thanks.

Okay VAHLAHA BRO here it goes

First of all our intrepids have 3 calaytic converters. second we have two exhaust the one that you can see. and then there is a large ass rectangular one in the middle of the car which makes the intrepids exhaust quiter.

well first i got a flowmaster dont get anything else trust me flowmaster sounds really good well at first he removed the ruglar muffler and replace it with a flowmaster and the awsome 90 dollar tips. HOPEFULLY IN 2 WEEKS I TAKE PICS(be patitent People)

that cost me 240 since the tips are really expensive. you couldnt even hear the damn thing. so next week i made him remove the other muffler and install the same exhaust so it can be duals so its routed from the calaytic converter to the two duals he bent it around the gas tank or the black thing it think where the tire goes.

well damn after he was done wheh that **** sounds like a hot rod im srious all of my freinds say its the most unique thing they saw. and it dosent sound like a ricey fart exhaust.

so the whole total came out to 470 i think.
But one thing i would recommend he ntold me he would remove, all of the 3 calaytic converters and make one big 3 inch one so it has less back pressure. it will be louder, and more performance. so

I HOPE THIS HELPS

Just to make a point, less backpressure is not always a good thing. Sure, it may giver you a higher top end, but down low you'll lose torque, and the car will be even more sluggish off the line.

This is the bane of the modern computer controlled, fuel injected engine.
