Okay,

My 2000 Intrepid ES has one of those pesky Infinity speaker systems and I've read about how much of a problem the dash speaker is. My wife blew out the left door speaker and the dash speaker playing the new Bon Jovi CD (she didn't tell me about it until I had to drive the car down to the beach to meet her and by that time she had decided on a new car). :banghead:

I've replaced the door speakers but the rattle and buzz of the dash speaker (which comes and goes but is getting worse) says it's time to do something about it. Right now, I can opt for just disconnecting the speaker rather than committing to some replacement option.

Here's my question. Is it easier to disconnect the speaker from the dash or to find the connection on the back of the amp? I assume my amp is accessible from the right passenger side (but I really haven't tried to get too deep into it).

Does the black dash panel just snap into place requiring that I pry it up or is it attached somewhere with screws? From what I've read, it appears that I need a triangular head to see what I'm doing or I have to use those funny angled screw drivers that I rarely have use for to get in and undo the speaker from the dash. If the speaker is like my door speakers, I need only pull the plug, correct?

Any clarifications/help would be appreciated.

The black panel lifts right of after removing the side A-pillars, I found it much easier to just cut the wire which is inside the passenger side kick panel though since removing the speaker itself is tough to do in that tight area near the windsheild
