OK here is my question I have two Intrepids both are ES and have the 3.2L... My 99 the first one I bought I was involved in crash with. The damage was not worth repairing so I purchased a 98 with only 70,000 miles on it. My 99 has roughly 140,000 on it. The 99 at current needs Hood, radaitors, head lights, a bar in the front that holds the radaitors in place, and I am pretty sure the harmonic balancer on the engine is way off, it also needs a new rear bumper and also CV joints, thoese were not damaged in the crash but where just starting to make noise.

My question is this... I have seen people put 318 V8s in them and make them rear wheel drive... Thats what I would like to do to the 99 except a slightly bigger engine and some type of flowmaster exhuast system. I would kind of like to make it a sleeper.. Keeping the look of the orginal ES but having something really different under the hood... Anyone have any thoughts on what engine or any information that would help?? Keeping in mind I can't break the bank to bad

If you can't break into the bank too bad then don't bother. Doing that swap is not for the feint of heart. It takes a lot of work and money.

If you could do it with the wave of a magic wand...it might be a neat swap. It really isnt very practical. If your area does emission testing you could run into etest issues. I would also think the huge labour and fabrication involved would give very little return down the road if you were to try and sell it. You need to put a rear end in it, you will also require a transmission/driveshaft hump that your car doesnt have.
