Just wanted to say hello to everyone, even though I may not have the car for a week or so. I drove it last night, it's an off-lease - very clean - the engine compartment looks like it's from a new car. It's got 51k miles on it, some options but it's not "loaded" - bottom-line price before powertrain warranty ( this isn't my first Dodge ) is $10,500, which seems pretty good. The rotors seemed a little warped, the dealer is supposed to replace them for me. I also asked them to buff out a few blemishes and give me a bottle of touch up paint and I'd be happy. I ran the VIN through carfax and it shows that the car was a lease in Cali., and 31k miles were put on it in 11 months! It somehow got to CT and was a commercial lease for another 20k miles. Interestingly though it says the car FAILED CT emmisions, and then 7 days later it was brought back and passed. Was this because of the recall on the emmisions control system?
I've read of emmisions ( and brake ) problems on these cars, anyone else here have these problems? Also, are the 99's in particular more problematic? Thanks in advance.....

P.S. - Wildcat ( '95 Eagle Vision ), who posts at di.net is a good friend of mine.

Welcome! Silver looks sweet on these cars, you aer lucky.

As for 99's being problematic, I haven't had a single problem with mine and I am about to hit 45,000 miles.

As for the emissions, I don't know why it would not have passed and then passed a week later unless some woek was done on it. You might want to check with DC to see exactly what, if any, recalls were performed on it.

Anyway, good luck with the car and hope you become a regular poster. :)

as a fellow CT resident I thought I would throw in my $0.02 worth. Our emissions stations are VERY particular and the car could have failed emissions based on a number of things (gas cap, air filter, any exhaust leak etc) so I wouldnt be too concerned with that unless the sticker ended up waived. I would be interested to see what numbers the car finally had when it passed.

I own a 2000ES and can honestly say the color is great, it looks good even when you havent washed it for a few days. The Intrepid is a good car to own and I hope you end up with this or another one.

There are a couple of us members here in CT so give a yell when you get a car, we could meet one afternoon for a few beers and some pics.

It was a private lease in CA and a Business lease in CT, not a "Hertz-type" rental though. And boy did I love playing with the Autostick on my test drive, I know it may get old but it does seem like a cool feature.

I might be getting my Intrepid this Friday! They should have it ready by then, but my sales rep left for vaca so I'm kinda getting passed around at this point. I was trying to figure out what dealer cost is on the extended warranties ( for vehicles w/ expired factory warranties ), they want $1000 for the 3/36 Powertrain Plus ( that would give me coverage up to 87K, which ain't too shabby ) with a $100 deductable. I've heard thier cost on this is around $650, does anyone know exactly how the extended plans work? Thanks.

Excited soon-to-be Intrepid owner........

Got my Trep yesterday! I'm loving it so far, the color rocks - I'll hopefully have some pics soon ( not that it doesn't look like every other stock '99 Intrepid ). I'm in Vernon, I actually bought the car in Enfield - I'm sure we could meet up sometime. What sucks though is that until I get something halfway reliable to replace my Chevy Corsica ( it still runs, but I don't want to be getting calls at work 'cause she's "stuck" ) - the wife drives the Trep to work, but at least I have visitation rights!

cool, I went all the way to Manchester, NH to buy my car, long drive but the car was worth it

word of advice (DJPill will back me up on this) get some tints done!! The silver car look so much better with tints on it.

I had mine done at tint-master in East Windsor, great guys, great installation, lifetime warranty, good price etc.

The tints make the silver Intrepid really stand out. See for yourself with either my sig or joekd's sig.

You guys have to come down to NYC at some point for a meet. I need to see more silver 'Treps. As far as I know, I am the only one here in the NYC metro area on this forum that has a silver ride.

Oh I plan on getting tints for sure - I was just unsure of a reputable place to have it done, I've seen ALOT of half-ass tint jobs around here. What did they charge at the place in East Windsor, where are they and what % did you get? Usually the "lifetime guarantee" guys are using ( I think ) 3M brand tint - that or another major brand. Yes I have noticed ( as well as my wife ) how sharp the silver Intrepids look with a nice tint job, so it's just a matter of time. Unfortunately I have to bring the car back to the dealer ( does Dodge have ONE dealer in its network worth a s**t? ) because neither the light switch or dimmer ( to the left ) function. Basically, the driving lights come on when the car is on, the switch does nothing - and the dashboard lights are always on - the dimmer does nothing. As an added bonus I cannot use my fog lights. Nice final inspection by the dealer I see, not to mention the place probably doesn't have loaners so I'll have to wait a few days while some goon manhandles my Trep ( OK, slight exaggeration ). I'd rather take her to Bolles Motors in Ellington or Carter Dodge in Manchester for warranty work - but this has to be done by the place I bought it.

Well I can recommend a place out in eastern Long Island... LOL but im sure thats a trip and a half for you.

As far as another NYC meet goes.... im game if other people are.

Intrepiditious.... when do you plan on putting your mirror in? Can you wait till Saturday? I will probably be heading back out there... to have them finish up my alarm install and I wouldn't mind watching and helping ya out put your mirror in. Im curious to see how it gets done.

I might not put it in this weekend (see mirror post) But if you want to come out, I'm free on Sunday (is Tones open on Sunday???) BTW, my girlfriend said you seem very nice. I'll try and hook you up with one of her rich girlfriends so you never have to work again and can just play with your car and computer all day. :)

I think it's time to post in the Dodge Meet section. We need to try and put something together for the end of this year/beginning of next year.
