Hi,

Just a little question When I have my AC on when it engadges it makes a high pitch screeching noise then onces its engadged it clears up, but everytime it engadges it makes this noise.. Initially I thought it was
the Water pump on the way out but I managed to track it down to the AC..

Any help would be greatly appreciatted..

Is the belt tight? Or maybe it is your clutch making the noise. Matt 97 3.5 ES

i know exactly squat about a/c but i happened to be riding in my aunt's volvo when the a/c clutch went out, and it gave a squeeling noise when it engaged. then it worked for a bit, then it started blowing hot air. hope you get your fixed before it gets to this point.

the only reason i think it might be the clutch is because you said it's only right when you engage the system.

The belt is slipping when the clutch engages this causes the screeching noise ,then when the belt speed catches up to the pulley it stops. change your belt.

or at least tighten your Belt tensioner for the A/C Belt. (also, check yer serpentine belt while you are at it... just good practice)

Cheers for the Info gents, I really do think the Serpentine belt needs replacing, she has 97k on her and I dont think its been replaced... I am getting a bit pissed on the money I am spending on little things with this car, it also needs a CV joint, Oil Pan gasket, front wheel bearing then its 100%, am I asking to much you think?

100 000 thousand miles? things wear out . If all it needs is CV joint, Oil Pan gasket, front wheel bearing I would not be upset. yeah I think its time to change the A/C belt also. Also if you have the 3.5 I would consider changing the timing belt.
