The manual- auto shift method some of us use for our Autosticks is bad for other cars. I know with the Mustangs (at least 3.8) using this method tears up the bands on their trannies, or at least some of them say on the 3.8mustang.com message boards

I've been shifting automatics manual-style since my first car. Never had a problem with them. Even with shift kits the car won't go back into 1st gear until you are going slow enough so all you are doing is forcing the car to "hold" the shift. This shifting style shouldn't kill anything inside your tranny.

First of all don't slam on your brake you will go into a skid but other than that you have the right Idea about racing a manual. As for the preformance parts go remove your air restrictor(0$), make an L-intake(or wait awhile untill dreamspeed comes out with one. :D )

When i race i leave it in D, but if you want a little more of a jump off the line, power launch it. hold the brake in and push the gas till its up between 1500 and 2000 RPM. Then when the go "cue" happens let off the brake and floor it simontaniously.
