I was getting ready to change the a/c compressor on my intrepid and wanted to know how much oil I needed to put in the new one before charging.,and how you put it in if not with your charge hoses.

you can find that info in a repiar manual. Also what oil you actually need should be in there. Or try reading the sticky ac repair at the top of this discussion page. But I believ you can just dump the oil right into the compressor.

A general "rule of thumb" is to capture the oil that is in the old compressor and add that amount to the new compressor. If you have lost all of your oil, add 3oz to the new compressor. Make sure that you use PAG46 oil. It can be added to the new compressor thru the top ports. Be sure to turn the clutch plate many times before installation. This will pre-lubricate the pistons an reed valves.
