Hey guys. just a quick question.
On my 98 ES I hvae the standard aluminum rims. the clear coating is all pitted. I am thinking of stripping the coating with just a paint stripper sanding them smooth and reapplying some new silver paint... do you guys think a stripper will do ok. I cant afford to get them sandblasted...

several years ago on my Daytona Shelby, I used a stripper on the clear coat, and used a product call "never dull" it is cotton guaze like product that is used for cleaning metal products, comes in a can about the size of a tobacco can, pretty cheap, smells terrible, but cleans metal really well. Your pitting is most likely in the clear coat, and it is like a corrision effect on the rim ( actually oxidation on aluminum)

use it on aluminun doors, boats , whatever. I bought at a Canadian Tire here in Ontario, so I think any hardware type of store should have it.
