Hey guys,

Well I'm in the process of replacing the stock Oxford 6X9's in the back with some pioneers. I have a 96 intrepid 3.3. While in the back I noticed there was an amp between the carpet and the metal of the back of the seat. It has Audiovox written on it with some serial numbers. What is this, and do I need to unhook the wires from it? I have a pionner deh-7700 as the headunit. ? TIA

Well if I am misinformed please let me know, I have done a search of the forums, and no help. I know its an amplifier of some kind, but I don't know if keeping it hooked up will distrupt or cause conflict with my headunit powering the speakers, any comments?

Umm...Is the amp powering any speakers? The amp is not factory.

Are you sure it's an audio amp and not left over from an old cell phone 3-watt kit or something? The OEM amplifier shouldn't say Audiovox on it so it's something that has been added. As for what it does, your guess is as good as any of ours...
