I just bought a 2000 2.7 Intrepid with 134,000 miles for a project for $700. The guy I bought it from said it needed a timing chain that it slipped a tooth. I did the key thing and 3 codes came up, I got those all cleared up none to do with timing. The car acts like it has a bad vacuum leak at the rear of the engine under acceleration, not when it idles, and idles high and rough. It seems to act up at start up, after it is warm it does just fine. So I bought an OB2 and got a 4th code which displays "manufacture control". I have replaced the MAP and cam sensors but did not help. What could be the manufacture control code be? The car runs great after clearing the codes. Thanks in advance.

What is the code number for the "manufacturer control" code?

That is all that comes up on my OBD2 is "manufacture control". No code number at all. Clear that at it runs like new car or wait until it warms up.

Do the "key dance", all code numbers stored should come up on the odometer. Click the key on and off three times leaving it on the third time.

It sucks that they block some of the codes by putting "manufacturer control".

Key dance shows no codes atall. Just manufacturer control on the obd2. Only time it will throw that code is when it is cold, when it sits all night. Starts right up but idles between 1500-2000 RPM and rough. Mil will come oh and stay on, then wait a few seconds and it will idle down and it will be fine up to an hours time. That's as long as I have let it run since I have had it.
Any more advice would be helpful. Thanks again.

Have you tried the key dance while the MIL is on? Just making sure, if its not on it wont show in the key dance.

Other than that, you'll need a better scanner that is capable of reading historic codes.

Took your advice and double checked the key dance with the engine light on. No code, good deal right? I start it up which it does right away and after sitting atleast 12 hours it sounds good, no rough idle just normal high idle. I have always cleared the code before. Maybe the engine light has to be on for this particular model to run right!! LOL! I'll just need to get it to somebody with a better scanner as you suggested. Thanks for your input.

I finally let someone smarter than me check out the car for me, my 18 year old son.. He looked at my scanner and seen the code 1391 above manufarure control which for some reason I didn't see the dozon or so time I tried it. Anyway, yeah I'm an idiot in this case, The cam sensor was changed so I checked the voltage from the PCM and am only getting 2.8 volts. According to Haynes I should be getting 5.0 volts with the key in the run position. Am I losing the computer or has anybody have any ideas I can try?
