Found another article here that talks about the Dodge Motorsports editions, this time the posted a figure saying they made 5000 of each intrepid/neon/dakota. so I guess thats the magic number we have been wondering.

2001 1/2 model? That's the first I've heard of that.Great to finally see something that gives a specific production number.

I got my track pack a few days ago and just found out that I cannot use the Dodge decal here in VA.

For whatever reason,VA has deemed them illegal.

It's crazy. The law says that no signs, decals or something to that effect can be affixed to your windshield. The only exception is the rear windshield which they allow decals no larger than 20 square inches.

The funny thing is I have to plaster an inspection sticker and county sticker side by side on the front windshield.

It's not really about clutter. It's all factored in with the same laws about tinting and radar detectors. They don't call VA the communist state for nothing.

Here's the kicker.I live close to the TN border.I've seen cars from TN get tickted for offenses such as tinting, bumpers too low to the ground, etc.Though they may be legal in TN,and their vehicles are titled and tagged in TN,once they cross the state line it doesn't matter.

That 5000 number seems odd because I remember otto saying only 5000 R/T were built in 2000. Also, I live in the New York tri-state area and have yet to see a Motorsport on the road. (I have only seen 3 R/T's on the street)

Just my two cents.

not all the motorsport editions are R/T's, i am willing to bet the majority are SE's with a few ES's and R/T's.

I agree with Thrasher, after looking for one thru dealer net , going by msrp I think most were se & es models with about a 1/3 rts, would be nice to have exact #s and maybe set up a registry who knows maybe in thirty years they will be collector cars worth thousands of dollars. :D

After looking at your guy's cars, I think I might go outside with some black spray paint and some yellow permanent markers and do up my wheels... :) Ummmm....kidding.

How I wish they had that back in '99. Too sweet. That red really brighten's up the SE model.

Yeah we built a ton of SE motorsport cars with bench seats and a coulm shift. The R/T was the lowest volume built for sure.

The SE Motorsport just has the 2.7 motor.

I was actually thinking of getting a 2002 SE at the time.(I've had the car like 3 weeks now)They also had a 2002 ES,2001 R/T and the 2001 SE Motorsport. Not much to pick from but that's part of living in a small town.

The R/T was out of the question.$29,000 was just more than I wanted to spend.I could have got it for $26,000 with rebates but I just bought a Ram pickup in June and needed to tighten up the wallet a bit.I hated the color of the 2002 ES.Some kind of brownish looking color. The 2002 SE had the gear shift on the column.Ummm.I don't think so.

Then there was the 2001 SE Motorsports.I just was overwhelmed. It was like I was back in high school. So I took it home and haven't thought twice about it since. :)
