Oh yes... speeding is so damn important that you have to go to extraordinarily illegal lengths to do it and not get caught.

Even if you do get one and especially if you use it, I hope you get pulled over.

I had a friend back in high school that had a jammer and got caught. He was lucky, he got a 500 dollar fine, the jammer was confinscated, and he had to perform 15 hours community service.

The problem with those.. and radar detectors... is that they don't prevent the cop from eyeballing how fast you're going. And, guess what... on a highway with even a few cars on it... if you're going significantly faster than the rest of the cars, the cop is gonna see you and know where to aim that radar/laser.

It's just not worth it. I speed a little... like 5-10mph over the limit... but I'm not stupid about it. If I'm in an area I'm not familiar with, I always slow down to the speed limit.

All it takes is a little common sense and some attention to the road and your surroundings... and you shouldn't need a radar detector, not to mention a scrambler. Save the money for new brakes and tires... things you'll go through quicker if you speed a lot.

the jammers on the market are legal, here's the info on the phazer that I own

The Phazer Jammer is a passive radar jammer. It has an FM chirp (Doppler frequency shift) circuit, a mixer diode and a dual ridge waveguide antenna for all three radar bands - X, K, and Ka (superwide).

Radar: When the Phazer receives the radar signal, it mixes the signal with an FM chirp than reflects it back to the radar where the added chirp confuses the computer inside the radar gun.

The Phazer has a 2 to 3 mile range. Once a car is within 50 to 150 feet of the police radar, the radar has a chance of reading the speed. (100 feet is 1.13 seconds at 60 MPH). This is known as the "punch-thru" zone. Drivers should adjust their speed accordingly. Use of a radar detector is recommended to alert you to the presence of police radar.

Laser: The Phazer transmits a modulated infrared beam that confuses the computer in Lidar units up to the maximum range of the gun making your vehicle invisible to the laser gun.

The Phazer Radar Jammer protects from the front only.

How is this legal? The Phazer conforms to all federal regulations. Part 15 of the FCC code regulates consumer products which may transmit or leak radio frequency energy into the atmosphere. Since the Phazer is not a transmitter, we can disregard the sections on transmitters.

The Phazer is a reflective receiver. It receives the police signal and reflects it back to the radar gun. Part 15 also controls the levels of radio frequency leakage from products designed to comply with this statute.

Legal or not, I still think it's a waste of money.

If it's legal, it probably doesn't work as well... or won't be as effective for very long.

in PA the cop have to give you 6 MPH over the limit, and there isint really a need to go faster than that. Unless you are racing and the speeding ticket is the least of your concerns

That's great, Joe. I hope you never have to use it (assuming it's still valid). The cost of the ticket is a relatively small expense... it's the repeated cost of higher insurance premiums, etc. that really start to hurt... not to mention the points off your license.

I still think it's a waste of money.

Don't bother arguing with him because he is always right and always has to have the last word....

I had a built in radar detector in my Probe GT and it saved me from numerous speeding tickets... not a waste of money IMOP.

I don't drive my Intrepid that fast so I haven't bought one... well except on the highway but I am only going the same speed as everyone else in MA which is 80-85mph

Radar/Laser jammers are the real waste of money... not detectors.

I bought a cheapy $99 Whistler detector a couple years ago. It paid for itself once or twice.
