I was wandering thru the pictures section, and I saw DKR's overhead console. It looks different than mine (and I don't mean the wood trim), and mine never says "Drivers Door Open". What type of console is that? Mine came from a 300M. Thanks

I didn't see the picture but from what you described it could have been from the LHS. When I was looking at one that's what the console would read when the door was open. It would also read "passenger door open" also.

the console in DKR 's car looks like the one from the 300M with luxury package. This one has a few different options that a regular 300 console does not have.

Boy oh boy, ya just can't get anything past otto - can ya? I guess of all of us here, he is the one to recognize what that console came from. It is indeed not yer "basic" 300m OTIS, it is an OTIC, so there are several things on it that are extra. I can even do a lot of the programing of light flashes, how and when to lock or auto-lock the doors, etc. etc. ALSO it has the auto-dim mirror which has to have been attached to the OTIC, I don't think there is a way to add the mirror without the OTIC. I'm very pleased with it.

Don , yes you can just add the center mirror without the console. The mirror just needs power and ground to work . All you need is the mirror and the plug that goes into the back of it , your all set.BTW- Nice job on the console , where in the world did you find it???

I have a base intrepid. Is the wiring already up in the roof so I could add an OHC if I wanted? I'd be will to shell out a couple hundred for one....If it also has the 3 button link for the garage doors and home lights...

OTIS or OTIX- this is the overhead console that shows mileage,distance to empty etc.There are two types- OTIS is used in all LH car lines ,and OTIX is the new one on the 300M luxury package with the menu button that allows you to customize certain settings( this one will only fully work on 2001 and up cars, it will partially work on 98 -00 cars ) Yes you can add this to any LH car The computer has all the info built in.Some of the things may not work if you try to add the console with the MENU button as it needs the high line body controller and a few extra sensors. The wires are not there from the center console to the left fuse panel area were it plugs in, but if you can find a donor unit the mounting bracket is waiting under every headliner. All you have to do is cut the hole and run the plug down to were the current plug is that gives power to the overhead map lights. Actually very easy. The hard part is finding the donor console and harness.

otto - my 'Bro back in the mainland scored it for me! Not sure exactly if it came from a wrecked car or just a "donor". LOL He never did say how much, if anything, he paid for it and I'm smart enough (?) to not ask.
warlord - see, you ain't so stupid! I have one and I thought it was OTIC, now otto tells us it is OTIX. So is it that I'm the stupid one? Nope! Got mine from my 'Bro !!!
