I have a 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter, so I can attest that it is pretty much a lost cause. Even if the door locks automatically, the doors are designed to open and unlock when the latch is pulled... so suffice to say, I use my child locks a lot when my kids are in the car. In the instances where I forget to turn them back off, my friends are understanding... and I just joke around about them being used to that, with experience in the back of a squad car... LOL.
At a certain point, the kids are smart enough to figure things out, plus I despise that stupid autolocking feature, since it doesn't auto-UNlock when you park.
