DC thinks that sedan buyers will buy the Stratus. They must have some real good weed in Germany. Most intrepids sold were the cheap SE's at under $17,000. Those buyers will be lost with no good replacement sedan. Who wants an ugly over priced station wagon?

Limiting the new Magnum to a station wagon body style seems like marketplace suicide to us.
But then, the 2005 Chrysler 300 sedan, which shares the Magnum's platform and powertrains, is priced about the same, so the point may be a moot one.

0-60 in just under 11 seconds. 0-60 in 8.5 seconds. Yeeeshhh!
The Hemi is the ONLY way to go on this one boyz.
I am in my 04 GTP Comp G 0-60 6.5 seconds, no mods. After the first oil change, a Thrasher S/C pulley will make the GTP a super rocket.

Anyways, if you guys get the Magnum, I hope you get it with the HEMI. The only way to go in my opinion. Money $$$$$ is the consideration but what ever you do, stay away from the 2.7.

They smoke hashish in Germany, but I think you're right. Unless the low-end (SE) Charger replaces that niche, they won't have a big, cheap sedan. I think you're wrong about the Magnum being ugly, though. It looks "tough" to me, low and mean. :sneaky2:

Really so you will by a Magnum over a 3 series BMW? Same price you know

But I have to admit for a station wagon it's not bad looking definitely gets the nod over the Passat wagon that's mentioned in the article... and I agree with capitalcity the hemi is the only way to go... 3800 pounds is too much weight for the 2.7/3.5... those motors don't have enough low end torque to move the Intrepid effortlessly I can image how it would feel with 400 extra lbs

That will be something I will be looking hard at and debating a lot about. I'm sure there will be multiple test drives and a lot of inquires. I will be looking hard at the aftermarket potential and availability. I'm sure insurance costs will play a role in the decision also.

I'd buy both if I could. :)

My next vehicle will not be the Magnum or the BMW, but if I HAD to choose, I would easily choose the Magnum. I am so not impressed with BMW. I've been test driving a lot of cars lately and it was certainly one of the worst! It wasn't near as exciting as the G35, the leather was hard, the dash was bland, and the styling is getting old. And on that note, we get to look forward to another Chris Bangle'd BMW next year. It's funny, just 2 years ago I knew I would be trading my Concorde in on a BMW - and now that I can, it's the last car on my list (besides the Ford Explorer - was recommended by a friend  ). If I were in the market for a mid-sized car like that, I would definately go with the G35. It's more powerful, handles as good, interior is infinitely better, and of course the value.

Infiniti G35 - 280hp
BMW M3 - 333hp

Still a long ways from getting a different car.

Infiniti G35 < $35K
BMW M3 > $55K

Try putting an additional $20K in the G35 and see what you get. But, if I could afford an M3, I wouldn't consider a G35 ;) . Those cars are the ULTIMATE driving machines.

Well, I'd get it used and spend the extra cash on a blower and other aftermarket stuff. :)

Good stuff that German weed. In the clouds of smoke they could see all those Intrepid owners rushing to trade them in with boxy station wagons.

Won't fly.

Yes, because every time something goes wrong with a BMW's computer or anything, it takes the dealership 2-3 weeks first to figure out what is wrong with it, then another week to fix it..i have heard too many horror stories about people taking their bmws in for service and having to use a loaner car for weeks...

I agree with Irish. Not to mention the fact that you're getting a lot more bang for your buck (especially in the features content department) with the Chrysler...

If I had 30K in my pocket and I HAD to buy a new car today; it would be the Magnum.
