ok. I just got a thought. I thought I read somewhere that the Caravan was based off a similar drivetrain/chassis as the 'trep. after all, they used the same engine for 4 years. Anyone ever think of taking the AWD setup off of a Caravan and installing it on a trep?

The engine in the Caravan is horizontally mounted. Making AWD work that way would be hard as hell. Someone had the idea of using the tranny from a Quattro. That sounds like the best idea so far. All you need is a bell housing adapter and a clutch setup. The rest is just easy mods.

how does the AWD caravan transfer power to the rear then? I will have to look under the hoow of the AWD model once. see what all can go on.

I do I do! I just don't know where I would put the exhaust. :) maybe run it out with two stacks on each side of the firewall, Like a big rig!

Well, it was only a thought in my mind. probably never even come close to happening, because I still have 2 years of shcool left before considering the upgrade. :p
