First, I would try cleaning them and waxing them. If the paint isn't shot, it may just shine up. I use NXT on my cars, and it makes the black look deep and shiny.
If they are deteriorated, and you decide to paint, don't use flat. You would want a base coat, clear coat at best, or a gloss at least. Lacquer is shiniest, but not very durable. A good paint would be the krylon made for outdoor furniture.

If you want them to loook most like factory, use a satin, or semi-gloss paint.

You can't wax flat, and it will get white or gray on you if you don't wax it (or if you try).

I think i'd go with those carbon fiber pillars but thats just me. Yet again I was planning to get the Carbon Fiber dash kit too. :icon_razz

I've tried a quite few things with mine (Maguiar's natural shine, quick detail, wax and more wax). They're in good shape but go dull (and evenly so) quickly.

Turtle Wax ICE seems to do the trick nicely and lasts a good long time (best I've found yet). Makes such a difference on the car's look to have those nice and black.
