hey i have heard of people putting toggle switches on the brake light cable and i was wondering how to do it.i have a 1993 dodge intrepid es if htat matters at all. for those of you unfamiliar. you cut the cable that makes the brake lights turn on when the pedal is pressed and insert a switch so if someone is following yuou at night and you want to lose them, you can flip the switch and the brake lights wont turn on (giving away your postion) See, i just dont exactly know what to do in order for this to work. THANKS

This shouldn't be that hard. Locate switch for brake light. Should be above brake pedal.

Cut positive line. Wire one end to your switch. Wire the other end to the line returning from the switch. Should work.

No warranties though. Don't come crying to me if you muck it up. (But it would be easy to un-do.)

What would be cool was if you had a double throw switch, with small LED or is lighted. That way when activated (no brake lights) a light will come on the switch reminding you that it is on and active. This way you don't forget to leave it on all the time, minimizing being rear ended or ticketed. :( :( :(

Good luck.

Ah, the ole' seeky-seeky brake light trick! I did the same thing on a previous car (Cavalier  ) back when I did weekly trips from Columbus to Ashland, KY.

I also had a double-throw so I could blip the lights 'on' when needed... like when the buttmunch behind me was following a little TOO closely @ 75MPH... suddenly he's seeing brake lights and slams his to keep from driving up my tailpipe - only to find himself at least 10 carlengths behind by the time he noticed! ;)

That, along with my ghetto-fab wig-wag high-beams (hacked up one of those *old*-school cheapo red-light scanners [a la Knight Rider] that was meant to be mounted behind the grill - hooked up a coupla relays to drive the high beams and wired in a dashpot so I could vary the speed of the wig-wag!) made for quite a smooth and fast trip down Rt 23 at nighttime... :)

AHHH... Just the thought of a hi speed drive down 23 or 52 without being bothered by Ohio's finest. If you make that trip to Ashland again, watch for smokeys near Hanging Rock and Ironton

Safe? Responsible!? Hoo hah! I was neither of those back in '91 when this car was running rampant. :)

Wig-wag: Usually seen on emergency vehicles - alternating flashing left and right headlights... When I sold that Cav the controls were still in the dash - I wonder if anyone figured out what it was for! Ha!

And yes - Rt 23 was a pain in the arse sometimes... alas, I don't make that trip anymore.

You ARE kidding aren't you? This would be very illegal and what if you forgot the switch is off? Get rear ended, someone gets hurt bad and then your little switch is found during the investigation....you won't be facing just a fine!
