It would probably be best to disect a set of headlights, and fiberglass something to go around the projectors. Then you can paint it with whatever you want. Painting it the color of the car would look good.

If you don't want to go that far, I've seen people take them apart, mask part of the reflector, then paint the rest of the reflector (usually mostly just the bottom).

Baking them apart is tricky. You might only be able to cut them apart with a dremel (1G tail light clear conversion style).

there were many threads a long time ago about dissecting these headlights, and NOBODY was able to get them apart. Baking, heating, solvents, you name it. SLEWIS was the first one to hang his balls out and just say screw it and drill through them to get his clear corners. Nobody, so far as i have seen, has gotten them apart. I'm not saying it's impossible or anything, but smart money says you best be careful and well thought out when doing this.

anywho, i didn't see that pic of the lexus before, looks kinda gaudy with the gold, i imagine you're going for a color matched look? If so i could see that looking good.

The head lights are easy to take a part (lens from housing) all you need is an oven and two large flat head screw drivers. I have Special HID's and added turn signals and a vidio camera in my head lights.
1. Remove head lights and remove bulbs.
2. Place in an oven I did not preheat it so the plastic can adjust. and set temp for 190 deg F. for 15 min. I set the head lamp assembly on a insulated drip pan so the electric burner would not create a hot spots. Bake setting not Broil.
3. remove the head lamp and and remove the metal clamps holding the housing, and lens together. Using the screw drivers pry the lens from the base. The glue will have a taffy like consistancy. I used my fingers to push the glue strands and strings back on it self.
Becarful not to touch the inside of the lens or the chrome as it will scratch EXTREAMLY easly.
4. Make any changes
5. Reattach the two parts (use the clamps you took off, to hold it together) and stick it back into the over for the 190 deg for 15 min.
6 Take out and let it cool.
7. Reinstall. You want to wait for a dry day as you want to limit the amount of humity that will be resealed in the assembly. In AZ 5% is the norm.
I have done it about 6 times to my lamps to replace broken or scratched lenses.
