Ok... i REALLY need to get a car alarm for my ride. Ive been putting it off for too long... time to get it done.

Can someone recommend a car alarm that will work with the factory remotes and will not disable any of my illuminated remote entry features? Also how much it should cost installed.

Intrepidacious.... do you know any reputable places that can install an alarm and not destroy my car? Maybe even do a little audio upgrade. ;O) Ive had some bad luck in the past finding good places to do work like this. If i can get them to haggle the price if i get an alarm and say a sub install together that would be sweet. If its by you, perhaps we can meet up and take some pics of the 'treps together.

Out here on the island, there's Tone's Tunes. That's where I and my g/f bring our cars. My g/f had a Viper alarm and remote starter installed on her car and she really likes it alot. They are really good people there, she had a problem with her tint that she had done there and they fixed it up no problem, no questions.

As for your illuminated entry, you'd really have to ask them about that. My g/f's car didn't have the dimming feature in hers, so I can't say if it will screw that up or not.

Anyway, Tone's Tunes is in Smithtown, here's all their info:

TONES TUNES

They are on Jericho, so it's really easy to find...a little past the Sagtikos on the Northern State. Ask for Anthony.

I live pretty close to there (about 4-5 miles) if you want to get together for some pics, let me know when you're in the area!

When I was looking for my alarm I went to a place that sells Code Alarms. I had the option of getting an alarm that uses the existing factory remotes or new Code Alarm remotes. I got the new remotes since they have a better range. Both were priced about the same, just under $200 installed. Code Alarm makes most of the OEM keyless entry systems.

I also recommend Code Alarm. www.code-alarm.com

I got a 1100 series installed with their remotes, but mine still work. The factory illuminated entry still works, your OEM remote entry still works, everything works normal with the system. You can changed settings on the alarm system to do more than your OEM entry system does, like lock the doors once the ignition is on, or unlock them after it's off, etc. Excellent product, and I never had a problem with it.
