As you might have read in my thread here, I am being ripped off by Team Perfomance.

I noticed my post on this board had about 180 views. Then I thought if I spent a couple hours and posted a similar post on as many car enthusiast websites as I can, the the number of people reading about this company's crooked business practices would swell into the thousands, and it would all be the exact type of people that frequent that website, namely, car enthusiasts.

Not something that would necessarily put these criminals out of business, but it looks like it's my only way to get any satisfaction out of this and, hell, I don't have anything else to do this Sunday.

So, I need a list of as many car enthusiast websites as possible, places like:

civicsi.com
camaroz28.com
dodgeintrepid.net

etc.

Let me have 'em!

Just so you know, bro...posting negative comments about a company could be construed as slander, and if it hurts the company badly enough, they might just sue you for it. I'm sure you're not all that inclined to play on the safe side right now, but I just thought you might want to know. Do some research before you go through with it...

A better thing to do would be to file a complaint through the Better Business Bureau. www.bbb.org is the web address and I'm willing to bet they'll start listening to you if you file a complaint through them.

Bad times, man...sorry to hear about your troubles.

That sucks what happened to you but you should tread lightly just because a company has a couple complaints on the BBB agianst them doesn't mean much.....hell I bet Mc D's Has MILLIONS agianst them...... Maybe you should start phoning them everyday...remember they have mouths to feed at home too!.... but if you really want to post in forums be my guest and get yourself in ****...

Are you sure about that? In order for it to be slander, doesn't it have to be false? In my case, it certainly isn't, I am simply relating to other consumers a negative experience I've had with a company. I would think that would be perfectly legal.

slan·der
n.
Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation.
A false and malicious statement or report about someone.

How can that be true?

I mean if it is illegal to discredit or bring shame upon one's acts, how do we have freedom of speech? I thought the only thing that makes slander illegal, is that what you're saying is false and that you're spreading misinformation.

Is it illegal to rip on the president for doing such a poor job? Is it illegal to give a movie or a product a bad review? That's all I'm doing, giving this company a bad review.

I'll be honest, I don't know the specifics of the law, it just shocks me that I could be found guilty of slander for warning other consumers to stay away from what is obviously a criminal-minded, deceitful business.

Any lawyers in the house?

By the way, everyone, thanks for looking out for me and warning me. I know you're trying to help, I'm just shocked by what I'm being told.

Some interesting information I found on a website. Obviously, I can't guarantee the accuracy of this.

WHAT IS "DEFAMATION"?
Defamation, sometimes called "defamation of character", is spoken or written words that falsely and negatively reflect on a living person's reputation.

If a person or the news media says or writes something about you that is understood to lower your reputation, or that keeps people from associating with you, defamation has occurred. Slander and libel are two forms of defamation.

Slander is a spoken defamation, libel is a written defamation.

CAN I SUE SOMEONE WHO SAYS OR WRITES SOMETHING DEFAMATORY ABOUT ME?
In order to prove defamation, you have to be able to prove that what was said or written about you was false. If the information is true, or if you consented to publication of the material, you will not have a case. However, you may bring a defamatory action if the comments are so reprehensible and false that they effect your reputation in the community or cast aspersions on you.

ARE MOVIE, THEATER, AND RESTAURANT REVIEWS PROTECTED FROM DEFAMATION SUITS?
A fair critique of a restaurant, movie, TV show, or theater play is not libelous, even though the comments or criticism are disparaging and may result in a loss of business or reputation.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH REPORTERS AND THEIR STATEMENTS? ARE THEY PROTECTED?
Damages can be recovered if the newspaper's story had inaccuracies in the reporting of statements which hurt the reputation of a person or business. The newspaper would be held responsible for its story.

We've got a bright one here, don't we?

I'll summarize for those less inclined to participate in intellectual pursuits such as reading and learning.

According to that source, slander/libel/defamation only occurs when the information being written or spoken is false and can be proven to be false.

It looks like these people wouldn't have a case against me, and even if there were some legal loophole that would let them sue me, I doubt these people would bother chasing me down (it would be difficult, as I will hardly be using any real information anyway). Plus, how do they know I won't turn around and sue them for internet fraud? Unless someone personally knows of a specific instance where somebody was busted for doing what I plan to do, I'm not too worried.

But, whatever...None of this was the point of my post.

I need more car enthusiast websites!

Thanks to those who have mentioned some already.

No need to get upset.

I was simply stating what everyone who read your two replies was thinking. Between the grammar and spelling of the first post, and the laughable content of the second, you sounded ignorant.

That Joe Dirt avatar is obviously no coincidence.

All kidding aside, I'm not saying you’re an ignorant person, just that you sounded like one in this thread. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.

Thanks for the link. I've added it to my Favorites.

A company can not use the law to protect itself from the truth. If all you are doing is relaying the experience that you had with this company, and prove that you are not making it up, they will not have a case against you.
