I posted last week about code 0420.....catalyst efficiency below required level. My question was....I'm short on funds and time right now.....are there any problems I could run into by driving the car like this for a while....other than emissions issues?

I'm assuming the catalyst is worn out in the cat....

Somehow everyone responding to this thread got sidetracked and kept suggesting replacing O2 sensors.

Usually catalyst efficiency below level means that the downstream O2 sensor has sensed that the cat converter is not removing all polutants that it is supposed to.This is pretty much the only reason thet put an O2 sensor downstream after the cat(to monitor whether car is polluting )Typically wont hurt the engine just won't pass emmission test. And eventually burn out the check engine light!
