i wound up rebuilding my motor...
decided to paint it while it was in pieces...
i used krylon engin enamel "chrysler red"

preped with degreaser/steel wool/aircraft remover
washed, preped again with corse steel wol, then 800

2 light coats + 800 wetsanding.
2 more light coats and fine steel wool.

the heads came right from the machine shop so no prep was required.

ENJOY!

I was wondering about that, wont that burn off and end up in the cats?
This is the 2nd time I've been asked this.
While I agree it looks SIMILAR to the red, its not actual paint.
The machine shop did that. I'm assuming for the grinding process...

and YES, I painted a 2.7.
I love my car.
Besides, I had it APART anyways... why not?

look good! nice job. hopefully the paint on the combustion chambers will not give you problems in the future as that was not nessicarily the best of ideas

LOL!!!!!
thats not paint....

its a sealer thats put on when a machine shop rebuilds the heads. it doesnt even match!!!!!
they do it to ALL heads... and its always red.. i spent $400 on new valves and seals and lapping they did a fantastic job.

i couldnt have gotten it around the valves so nicely....

Looks good, I'd paint mine if I had to rebuild. Like you said, why not, you had it apart.
