I know there is a poly bushing out there. I have the link to the site from here. But I am talking to a guy that does solid aluminum bushings for F,M,J type cars. Showed him the poly site and we are talking about making a solid set for the Intrepid's.

Would there be a big interest in these for the performance drivers we have on here? I have to put a trans in my 96 and my bushings are shot. My car may be the test bed for the bushings or he might want one of you to try out a set. Not sure about that yet. If he needs more than me or if I can't do it in time, would someone here like to help out with testing?

Yeah, I'd be interested in being the gp for such a test. I have been planning the poly bushing mod for a while now anyway.

I'll keep you in mind. I just sent the guy an e mail this morning so we are just getting started on this project. I'll let you know.

Also, forgot to mention, he thinks he can keep the price right in line with the poly bushing price. I know that Firm Feel sells the solid bushings for the F,M,J cars at around $225 and this guy sells the same thing for $160.

That's not an issue. Everything else is still bolted in rubber. It's not different that putting them on an F,J, or M body. All you are doing is securing the cradle and the lower control arm to the frame, just like every other car that is or was made that way at some point. And then again the lower control arm still uses a rubber bushing in it.

Ask this question, does the rear suspension make the car vibrate your teeth out? NO! and it's mounted to a solid frame with nothing but rubber bushings. With the aluminum cradle bushings, it will be the same thing. Now the frame will be solid and wont move around, but the control arm still has a rubber bushing and it still had the engine and trans mounts too. So vibration is just not and issue. Improved driving performance is and issue.

There will be a increase in vibration. your thing about the rear suspension is a little off cause the rear suspension (at least in the LH) is bolted to a cross member which is bolted to the body through rubber bushings just like the front. I could see something like this on a race car but not a daily driver.

That's what it is for, performance driving. And you still wont notice it on a daily either. Like I said, it's no diff than bolting the K frame of an F,M, or J body to the frame with the solid aluminum bushings. And it's no different than the solid mount K frames of the 60's and 70's either. I have 4 Dodge Chargers and none of them vibrate with there solid mounted K bolt on K frames, and neither does my F bodies that I installed the solid bushings on. There's still too much rubber in the rest of the system to make any diff in the way it now.

I have the Poly bushings, although Johnny made a special set with the bottom bushings being a much harder compound. I noticed increased vibration even from them.

As far as I know I have most modified suspension on a first gen (excluding airbags) and I actually Autocross my Eagle too.

If you autocross this product should be right up your alley. I don't have my 04 anymore, so when I get the trans back in my 96 I'm going to install them in my daily driver to replace the powder that's in it now. They may just fall part when I take them out anyways. Wont be long now, I have a used 97 with a blown engine spotted. I may get it either this weekend or next at the latest.
