i want to take it in to get checked but would like to have an idea on what maybe wrong. when i try to turn it on while driving the light doesn't come on, but when i crank the car cruise light comes on with every other light on the dash.

You may want to try adjusting your brake pedal switch up under the dash. Sometimes this switch causes the Cruise to be inoperable. Not saying this is YOUR issue, but worth a check

it's a plunger looking *thingy* at the top of the brake pedal bracket
how do i adjust it?
how much is that to replace?
