Members,

Today we are writing to let you know about a discussion that has been taking place behind the scene between admins and moderators, a discussion which has been very important to us and this sites future.

In 2007 DI.net went through some changes that were not not broad casted to its members, to whom we all agree deserved to know what was happening. Those changes that took place in 2007 while important would seem to many as something small but were overshadowed by a lack of communication on my part. 3 years later and we are now forced with a reality and a change that will be the turning point for DI.net.

My commitment to Dan, and Nick (nhogan) has always been to NOT sell the site. That was an original deal set in place with the previous owner and is one that I am standing behind still today. However, a car that is no longer made puts us in that inevitable position that the site will in all likely hood stop growing at some point. We still see new members here and there, we still get the odd person chiming in but it is not the machine it once was. No one can deny that there is something special about DI.net, the community is amazingly strong and the friendships and bonds are important to everyone. As a site owner and admin, it is important for me that not only does our forum continue to live on, but continue to grow in a way to encourages participation and community.

On September 1, 2010, Dodgeintrepid.net will start going through a 'site' change, what will not be affected is as follows; your account will remain the same, your posts, your images, the same friends and community, same posting software, same up-time, same admins, mods and forum speeds. What will be changing is the following; the logo, the domain.

Dodgeintrepid.net is being given a 2nd chance at life under the new domain, Dodgechat.net .

Why DC.net? First off, the .net remains the same for all of us, DI.net has a good ring to it and lets be honest, keeping it similar makes it better for all of us. Obviously, keeping dodge in the name is key. While we may not all own Treps anymore, many of us own dodges of some sort. The wealth of information both archived from DI.net and the current users is a shame to waste, why not keep it going forever? (rhetorical) ;) Using the word chat in the url helps us keep it open and platform friendly. The good outweigh the bad with the new domain with regards to what the future holds.

It is important to everyone who has been a part of the DI.net legacy to know and understand this isn't about 'killing' what we had, this is about us making it live on forever.

Everyone is welcome to chime in, say what they must but please respect that after the staff discussing this for the last 6 months (yea, really, that long) it is something that will materialize. How can you as a member make it better? Tell us what sections you want, what you are looking for, perhaps you feel you would make a great gearhead because you know about the 2.2 motors or the big diesels.

That all being said. Thanks to everyone who has made DI.net something worth fighting for. We have seen many members come and go, both good and bad. DodgeChat.net will certainly be neat to see grow.

Thanks for getting us off on the right foot Craig. Your kind words are really welcome.

I will add, that the new domain will have a banner that says "home of Dodgeintrepid.net", very similar to the gmforum.com, so this will not turn di.net into something unrecognizable, in essence we'll be adding new sections and forums for the other vehicles we wish to add.

The good things that this will bring us:

- Larger member base, and a more diverse range of vehicles (dodges of course)
- More people to the meets
- More new friends, for bigger longer lasting whore threads
- Support/sponsorship for meets such as Danlisles and Carlisle
- The site will continue to be supported and maintained (if we dont do it, Di.net will die a slow unsupported death)
- Great opportunity to expand our ever shrinking community....

I am open to any questions you might have, or any concerns, we would like input/facts/opinions from all the membership. I think this is a great idea to help grow the site and community, as well as see some different types of vehicles and mods we might not be used to...and some new friends....

Feel free to PM, call, or email/yahoo me if you would like to discuss.

I welcome the new marquee -

Remember, the DodgeIntrepid.net domain will stay in place, and we still have the same members, the same knowledge, the same information...

It is a change that will allow us to continue to not only exist, but also grow - look at the number of members who own other D/C products that have posted thier information her already.

Thank you Dan. Yes, if you type in dodgeintrepid.net, it will still work. It will redirect permanently.

I didn't think my words were unkind at all....just my opinion. :hello:

And from what the ADMIN wrote it sounded to me like DI was going to get lost in a Brand Forum....now that you added the additional info it sounds a little better. Not much though.

Not to mention how it hurts to hear someone (ADMIN) that is not even a fan of the LH talk about them (LH cars) in a derogatory way (ie. there at least 6 years old). This platform will have a following for many many years to come IMO and will most likely be a Classic Type Mopar creation in 20 years.

My opinion is that this Forum would grow faster as is. I mean these cars are getting into the hands of a much younger crowd that is much better with computers overall. And that fact would drive more and more LH specific members here than ever before! FWIW the 300Mclub has been adding new users and members at an amazing rate lately and I attribute it to this before mentioned point 100%

Yep, exactly, and I can bring some Ram people, amongst others. Craig, you could have a section for your little red express.

The great community we have now will make this that much better.

We already have sections for other stuff, so it won't be much different. Just advertised differently. If it draws in more people thats great. If not , not much will change.

Support/sponsorship for meets such as Danlisles and Carlisle
I can think of another place that supports this site too! :moon2:
